Rise Multi Academy Trust Hits the Right Note with Britpop-Inspired Inset Day
On Friday, 14th February, Rise Multi Academy Trust turned up the volume on professional development with a Support Staff Inset Day full of energy, excitement, and a vibrant nod to the 90s Britpop scene. Held at St Peter and St Paul’s Primary School in Syston, the event welcomed over 200 staff members from our 26 schools, creating a unique blend of learning and team spirit inspired by legendary bands like Blur and Oasis.
From the moment staff walked through the doors, the atmosphere was electric. The day combined informative seminars and engaging workshops with a sense of celebration and unity. One of the event’s highlights was the interactive karaoke room, where staff members belted out classic British anthems — a fitting tribute to the day’s musical theme.
We were also joined by two guest speakers, Verity and Suzanne, who are Educational Psychologists. Through our work with Verity and Suzanne, the Trust have been able to offer specialised training to staff, helping us to improve the provision for all children. Their work has supported staff to have a better understanding of pupils with complex special educational needs and therefore ensure that personalised adaptations are made to support pupils in fulfilling their potential. They delivered insightful talks and led discussions on various topics, such as creating scaffolding for students and how best to support and guide them in their learning while encouraging independence. Their expertise and thoughtful approach provided valuable strategies that staff can take back to their schools and implement with confidence.
Lunch was another crowd-pleaser, thanks to the incredible collaboration with Relish School Food. Their delicious spread featured loaded hot dogs, traditional fish and chips, topped jacket potatoes, and a variety of fresh salads and garnishes. The dedication of their team ensured there was something for everyone, and no one left hungry.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the central team, including CEO Dave Ellison-Lee, Interim Director of Education Jo Westaby, and Deputy Directors of Education Fran Ward and John Keech, whose dedication and meticulous planning made the day both inspiring and seamless. Another thank-you also goes to the guest speakers from our own schools, who crafted engaging sessions and shared their expertise, enriching the learning experience for everyone involved.
Reflecting on the success of the day, CEO Dave Ellison-Lee said: “It was incredible to see our support staff come together in such a fun and uplifting environment. Their enthusiasm and dedication are the heartbeat of our Trust, and events like these remind us just how much we achieve when we collaborate.”
As the event wrapped up, it was clear that the spirit of the day would ‘Live Forever’ in the hearts of all who attended. Rise Multi Academy Trust continues its commitment to fostering a culture of collaboration, growth, and success; whilst ensuring both students and staff alike have opportunities to flourish and succeed.
