Rise Voices: A Night to Remember
Tue 30 Apr 2024On Monday 29th April, we held our biggest and best Rise Voices event.
We gathered 434 Year 4 pupils from across the 26 Rise schools together to sing in harmony at the Mattioli Arena.
The pupils did their schools and families proud as they sung a series of songs linked to books and the love of reading. Each school produced a short video to share their vision, values and celebrate the books that children were enjoying. This performance was the first as an ensemble because pupils had only rehearsed in their individual schools.
The audience of over 750 family and friends were suitably impressed with amazing work of their children. One grandparent said, ‘That was wonderful. I cannot believe that was the first time they had sung together. What a tremendous effort.’
Mark Cole CEO, ‘What a night. The pupils were fantastic. The school staff worked so hard both before and during the event. As a trust, we often bring staff together but we also treasure events like this where we can show children and their families what can be achieved when we come together as a family of schools’.
Rise would also like to thank Leicestershire Music Service, for their exceptional support, guidance and the live band and the sponsors who helped contribute to the event.

Rise welcomes three new schools to the family.
Mon 01 Apr 2024We are delighted that Frisby C of E Primary School, St Paul's C of E Primary School (Woodhouse Eaves), and Measham C of E Primary School have joined the Trust.
These strong and ambitious schools are highly regarded in their communities and Rise are excited about what each school will bring to the growing family of schools. Rise will be a trust of 26 church and community schools across Leicester City, Leicestershire and Derbyshire.
Mark Cole, CEO commented “Although we have been working with these schools for some time now, we are thrilled to finally have Frisby, St Paul’s and Measham join our growing family of schools. It is of particular significance to us that these schools are all strong. For too long, joining an academy trust was seen as a decision that only vulnerable schools made or were forced to make. Each of these schools brings a genuine appetite to collaborate, want be part of something bigger and are ambitious for their pupils, staff and school communities. They are a perfect fit for Rise.”
Hannah Carter, Headteacher of Measham C Of E Primary school added “We are all excited to be joining Rise. The CPD and networking opportunities that my staff are accessing are fantastic. The Central team are very supportive, and we already feel like we are part of the Rise family.”
Lisa Gilchrist, Headteacher at St. Paul’s commented ‘We are delighted to have joined Rise. I have been working with other senior leaders in Rise and so have my subject leaders. The support the school received prior to joining, without doubt, contributed to our recent 'Outstanding' Ofsted judgement. We are very excited to have joined the Rise MAT family, which know will help our whole school community to further flourish and succeed.’
Charmaine Ainge added, “Since our Board reached the decision that Rise was our MAT of choice, we could not have felt more welcome or supported by them. There is always somebody at the end of the phone/email, either from the Central Team or the wider family of schools, who is willing to provide advice, guidance and/or the resources that the school needs in order to support our children and our staff. I am excited to see what the future holds for Frisby as part of the Rise family.”

Supporting the Next Generation of Trust Leaders
Tue 26 Mar 2024Rise are proud to be an ‘immersion partner’ with the National Institute of Teaching (NIoT).
NIOT are delivering a national specialist programme for trust CEOs. A key part of the offer is the chance for participants to spend blocks of time visiting trusts to see what they do and why. Rise are delighted to be one such trust.
Mark Cole CEO, “It will be a privilege to share what we do at Rise. We will be able to share successes, the things we are working on and also the things that do not go as you’d hoped. Humility, honesty and candour will be really powerful during this programme. It will also be fantastic to hear what colleagues are doing in their trusts, as we learn together”.
Each immersion has a different theme and emphasis. The April 2024 immersion will focus on looking at the operating models that trusts chose to use and the rationale. The summer placements will focus more broadly on communication.
The NIOT are recruiting for future cohorts of this fantastic programme and more details can be found here https://niot.org.uk/programmes/school-trust-ceo.

75% of pupils say their teacher is their role model. You could be the difference.
Tue 30 Jan 2024In a world where influences change daily, it's heartening to know that a significant majority of pupils view their teachers as role models. According to recent surveys, a staggering 75% of pupils say their teacher is the person they most look up to. This statistic speaks volumes about the impact educators can have on shaping the future. And you could be one of them.
Your influence:
The bond formed between a teacher and a pupil extends far beyond the classroom. It's a relationship built on trust, mentorship, and the belief that every child deserves the best start in life.
When a child sees their teacher as a role model, it showcases that it is more than ‘just a job’. Teachers have the incredible opportunity to be the positive force that pupils look towards.
Unlocking Potential:
One of the most rewarding aspects of being a teacher is the chance to unlock the potential within each pupil. Every child is unique, with their own set of talents and capabilities. As a teacher, you have the privilege of identifying and nurturing these strengths, helping pupils discover what makes them special.
How You Can Be the Difference:
If you've ever considered a career in teaching, the new year is the perfect time to sign up. Your decision to become an educator could be the difference in a pupil’s life, setting them on a path of success. Teaching is not just a job; it's a calling, a chance to create the leaders and innovators of the future and to make learning a journey of excitement and self-discovery.
How?
Our one-year full-time post graduate training programme will enable students to gain QTS and a PGCE upon completion.
Applicants will need:
-
An undergraduate degree, 2:2 or above, or equivalent.
-
GCSE grade 4/C or above in English, Maths and Science, or equivalent.
Our in-school training programme allows students to do most of their training in one school, allowing them to put their academic learning into practice in a classroom environment in which they feel familiar and comfortable.

Rise MAT hosts another successful inset day for support staff – Winter Wonderland ‘24
Thu 18 Jan 2024On Monday, January 8th, 2024, Rise Multi-Academy Trust kicked off the new year with a bang by hosting RiseFest 24’ - Winter Wonderland—an engaging inset day exclusively designed for support staff. The event, held at One Church Leicester, brought together 190 dedicated staff from the existing schools and welcomed colleagues from new schools joining the Rise family.
The morning session included an insightful presentation by Dr. Adam Brett, a lecturer in education for Derby University. Dr. Brett shared his expertise in fostering inclusivity in the classroom. His talk delved into practical strategies and innovative approaches, inspiring support staff to create nurturing and inclusive learning environments for all pupils.
Leaders and teachers from various subjects within Rise also gave talks and workshops throughout the afternoon.
The theme followed that from the success of the summer event, with various ‘headliners’ performing across various stages throughout the day. At lunch the team from “The Roasting Pig” served a delicious hog roast, staff also had the opportunity to visit the stylish coffee shop, “Way Coffee” situated inside the venue. A wide range of hot drinks, cakes, treats and more, were available to purchase, with profits supporting a school in Nairobi, Kenya as well as other projects in the local slums. The One Church was the perfect venue with a variety of space allowing so many workshops to run side by side, complimented by the decor, which lent a winter touch with fairy lights and trees playing into the winter wonderland theme.
As the day concluded, participants left with a renewed sense of motivation and a toolkit of practical strategies to implement in their respective roles.
Feedback from participants included:
“Greater understanding of children's understanding”
“Dr Adam’s session on diversity, equity and inclusion was very beneficial”
“Taking time out to listen and hear other people's experiences and sharing ideas.”
“Team bonding with the other LSAs in our school. Listening to speakers express how important our roles are within the rise. I thought the language workshop clearly stated how important it is to be positive within school and give the children the best chance possible to be able to flourish in our care”
“I thought the day was really good; the clear booking service for the courses, the reminders and updates were clear, the venue was excellent including sound and a variety of speakers. The drinks and snacks and lunch were greatly appreciated and enjoyed. Thank you to all the team who worked so hard to put the day together. I look forward to the next one.”
Mark Cole, CEO commented “delighted to be able to bring the majority of our support staff together for the day. As a trust staff CPD is given the highest priority. Feedback from the day has been positive and we have already started planning for next year!”
In summary, RiseFest Winter Wonderland was not just an ordinary inset day; it was a celebration of collaboration, learning, and inclusivity. Dr. Adam Brett's keynote on inclusivity in the classroom set the tone for a day that will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression. As the Rise Multi-Academy Trust continues to grow, events like these become part of the way the trust hopes to bring together the wider community.
